[HOW TO] TTL to Ethernet with RPI

Hi Skylab. Did you put a SD card in your pixhawk? How do you know it armed? Do you have a solid green light on your pixhawk when armed? Does it say armed in mission planner? I had trouble setting up my esc. I set them up 1 at a time using the transmitter and receiver, not connected to the pixhawk.

when i use the xbox joystick pad it armes...yes it say on the mission planner "Armed" in standard mode. and yes I did have sd card installed on pixhawk. in mission planned ( CONFIG/TUNING ....Full parameter list ) I manually set the RC1_Max/Min from 1900 to 1901 and same to RC2 - RC4 and gave me solid green light. but for fs-i6 rc receive and transmitter not working. Sir please how did you get it to work at last

I still can't figure out why its not spinning when I can arm using xbox joystick pad. I connect the esc to the pixhawk pin ( 7,8,9,10) MAIN OUT. please is this right?

Planner should report what isn't right.

do you have a good 3d GPS fix?
did you use the hardware arming switch?
did you calibrate your radio?
are you in stabilize when arming?

I think you need 1 through 4 for quad motors. Also are your esc beeping the right pattern for arm?

First of all, thanks a lot for your help over the wekend in setting up the TTL on the RPi. I got it all completed and then realized I had a bad XT60 connector into the system. I have then order a replacement and other parts, I will update shortly.

In the mean time, I noticed that in the UAVcast folder you modified the "DroneConfig.cfg" file by changing the CameraType to "C920". I did not purchase the C920 when I bought the hardware, instead I purchased:

Will this work and what setting would I use for CameraType?
I noticed you have gStreamer so not sure if that is needed for cam to transmit images to GCS. Once the cam in set and recognized...do I need this software on the RPi?
Lastly, I have the impression Wvdial is needed LTE operations. Is t his correct, when do I use the Wvdial settings?

You are welcome.
I never tried the ELP Camera, so im not sure if it work.
You could try using the C920 or C615 parameter. But as said, i do not know if it will work.

UAVcast uses gstreamer to stream video to GCS. You dont need to intall anything if UAVcast is installed successfully.

I dont know what you are refering to on the last question, could you please elaborate?
wvdial does`t support true LTE unlike UQMI which does.

I have worked on the TTL adapter over the last two day and found that the UAR-TCP-232-Setup V.4.2.2 was not saving the settings/parameters or it was not reporting the saved configs correctly..  I followed your instruction as you stated in your video, I set the config details and selected "Setup via Net" to save.  However when I go back in and press "Seach in LAN", I would see the default setting and not the configs I placed in.

I contacted tech Support and stated the software was old. Obviously it worked for you, however for those who are seeing the parameters are not savin or is imtermittingly saving the config, then to use the latest USR-MO-Vxx program.

Also, I have my TTL configured but noticed one thing. After entering ps ax at the RPi root, the last number to the left shows 1349, in your video (time: 18:32) you ended up with 789.

Why is there a difference?

Also, after I completed the setup of the TTL I was not able to connect APMission Planner, it keeps defaulting to COM5.

I have only power, my GPS and the TTL connect to my APM 2.5 via tele port. So why is Mission Planner defaulting to COM5 and not to the UDP Server as shown in the video?

Also, I have Mission Planner 2.0 on my laptop.

Thank you for sharing the updpated TTL software, i will update blog accourdingly.
Last nummer to the left is just the CPU proccess number, and yours will not be identical to mine. Just ignore the diffrences.

Mission Planner should load whatever you used last time, at least mine does.
Are you able to select UDP at all?

I have successfully build a quadcopter which Bernt Christian tutorial has helped me a lot... but one problem I've been facing is when I arm after a minute of arming the quad it automatically disarm itself. I have being searching on google for answers but no success on that. Please is there anything I can correct in mission planner or something.

There is a section under communication to add a link, which I did but still the system is defaulting to COM5. Later tonight, I will reload and update the APM software in the APM 2.5, perhaps this will work.

Skylab...I am not familiar with your issue. I will aid in searching for this problem.

I need help connecting the mission planner to the TTL. I have a RPi connected to the TTL adapter which is connected to the ArduPilot 2.5. I can connect and communicate with the ArduPilot via COM port, however when I swtich to the TTL using the RPi, I get the following:

I have used APMPlanner 2.0 as well as Mission Planner 1.3.41 and both are giving the same results. I have follow Bernts video which explained the TTL setup process very well. I have verified the IPs several times, ensured that the TX/RX are flipped between the TTL and the ArduPilot, still not able to get the Mission Planner to communicate with the TTL or/and the ArduPilot.

Anyone familiar with this issue and a fix?

I experience the samething too but I was able to solve the problem .... the ttl has a default ip. In my case the default ip of my ttl is 192.168.0.7. I checked my Ethernet ip (eth0) whicg is 192.168.137.0 and my wlan0 is 192.168.8.1 respectively (default) so I change the ttl to 192.168.137.250 that is an eth0 ip since our ttl is an Ethernet. and make sure your gcs (pc) ip marches with the ip in UAVcast

make sure you change the ttl default ip to march the Ethernet ip of pc .... example : ETH0= 192.168.137.1. change your ttl ip to 192.168.137.any number ...

Thanks...I know about the default TTL IP and took that into consideration. During my setup, the RPi Eth0 was set to 192.168.0.110 and my TTL adapter was set to 192.168.0.10. WIth that, no connection.

Am having a serious problem with my quadcopterX, it armed but when i throttle high the motors spin high for 3 seconds and stop spinning then the esc will play its music while the quad remain armed.

I have being searching for possible solution but no good answers been found. Please anyone know how to fix this?

Did you try to ping the TTL adapter from RPI?
Do you use one power source for all devices, if not you have to share ground.
If you type "ps ax" do you see the udp_redirect proccess running? Please post a image of that.

It sounds like you need to calibrate those ESC`s. Have you calibrated radio in Mission Planner properly?

Yes I did the radio calibration in misson planner and I followed the steps in esc calibration in mission planner too to calibrate the esc but I will repeat the steps again
