And that's how I heard of uavmatrix, thanks for sharing the info on the Flitetest podcast Andrew, and thank you Bernt for the site and for the primer you posted.

I have 2 planes that have been flying with APM 2.x boards for a while now, the cellular video + telemetry sounds fantastic. Saving my pennies for the gear...
One thing I'm not sure about, it sounds like Andrew flies from his house with his laptop still connected to his home wifi. That won't be possible for me, unfortunately my GCS will need to be connected by cellular too, not sure how to establish connection if I don't have a public IP address.

If I understand correctly, it can be done using VPN but not sure what software I need on the RPI and Windows for that.

If your operator cant provide you an public ip without restricted access, you will need VPN. Im currently looking into a vpn solution with minimal lateancy, and will post a blog as soon this is tested. maybe. @Chuckster1 has some advices of which operators that deliver usable ip's.
