Raspberry pi 3 & navio 2 4g lte connection setup help needed

hey guys I'm Wieland and I'm building long range 4g quadcopter
I will post a help guide for people to build theirs when I'm done
I will be using navio 2 and raspberry pi3

My question is what is the simplest way to make this work with a home connection To 4g on copter side
I have no problem opening ports etc
Which is the best modem that will work at LTE speeds? So far I'm leaning toward E3276

I would also use a 4g hotspot but I need some help how to get it setup

Which is the best solution to use with pi3? Wvdial or uqmi or 4g wifi hotspot?

Any help will be so highly appreciated and I will be in debt to you for this help

Hi! I'm using a Raspberry Pi 2, not a 3. I have a wifi dongle and the RPI connects to my Jetpack with no problem, its as easy as connecting to a home network. I'm using a serial to ethernet converter for my telemetry data. My ground control station is, however, limited to my home wifi network, because stupid Verizon locks all ports. I have setup elsewhere using team viewer and accessing another laptop at home, and tethering my laptop off my phone. This is possible when your flight controller is doing all the heavy lifting, but get ready for some lag and lots of data usage.

Hey Chuckster1 Would do you be able to share a small guide on how did you manage to get that working with navio2 and raspberry 3? I'm lost, all the docs i found are about the navio+ board, not the navio 2.

Hi...I think 3G/4G is a viable option if the quadcopter is semi-autonomous.
By that I mean that it can perform pre-programmed or remotely commanded movements without user interaction like hover, landing, takeoff, return to home, waypoint navigation, loiter.
It certainly won't be fast enough for the human pilot to manually perform fast maneuvers or aerobatics.

Agree.
However, i have flown in manual mode in low altitude without issues but its requires good cell coverage at ground level.
