Although my eth0 is configured correctly in dhcpcd.conf file, when I run ifconfig, eth0 doesn't display inet ip. As such, DroneStart.sh disdplays "Ethernet ip is 1500" because it grabs the MTU:1500 instead.

How to make ifconfig display eth0 inet ip?

Hi. Have you made any changes to the /etc/network/interfaces file? If so, please set it back to default. Important! I assume the ttl is powered and connected?

Fixed it by using your etc/network/interfaces entries

as the DroneStart.sh progresses, I get this displayed regarding the udp_redirect process when I use ps ax command (the send-to-ip and send-to-port are missing)

Since i have Navio2, in the DroneConfig file if I input Navio instead of APM, then UDP_redirect is ignored, so I change it back to APM.

Yes, I just concluded that as you were responding! So everything is working! What port(s) do joystick commands get transmitted on?

You don't need ttl converter if you are using navio board.

Joystick commands are wrapped into the telemetry. Default port 14550

Hi Bernt,
In order to use the HUD standalone created by Patrick Duffy, I am using this

sudo ArduCopter-quad -A udp: 192.168.1.241:14550  -C udp: 192.168.1.241:14551

How/where could I incorporate that into DroneStart.sh

Please clone UAVcast again or replace these files from github.

Ops.. It should only be one set of parameters. I just fixed the github master.
Just delete one of them..
