Dear Gary,
I believe I got it to work! It seems like my dongle is recognized not as eth1, but as wwan0.
After making the changes to /etc/network/interfaces I now seem to be connected.

I haven't been watching the blog - glad that you have it connected.
An update, I can get the UAV to connect to my GCS on my home network but Telstra seems to block port forwarding ... Also, I am less than impressed with the quality of the video, again it seems like less than advertised throughput on the Telstra network :-( Jessoman, I am in Perth. I agree - the work that people like EMLID and Christian have done is really impressive.

Have been out for work last month with limited internet connections. I probably should describe the GCS configuration more in depth as many users struggles to get things connected.

I would love to see some more videos from everyone’s project. Cellular telemetry is just an amazing way of transmitting data between the aircraft and GCS, and nowadays there is cell coverage most of the placed.

For me, cellular telemetry is better and more convenient to use as any other telemetry radio transmitters,. Absolute Awesome.

I will try to make a move where i fly my aircraft using Manual mode only, this will demonstrate the minimal latency cellular connections is creating.

Hi everybody ,
It is couple of days I am trying to make Unlock Huawei E3276s-150 up and running.
None of sakis3g or qmi worked. sakis3g fails to load tty and uqmi can'f find the wwan0 device because it didn't created .
When check ifconfig I see wvna0 is there and created .Aslo cdc -dmw0 is at /dev .

Whenever I send uqmi nerwork register command . it stays there there with no respond . I am using
Huawei E3276s-150 150Mbps 4G LTE USB Dongle .

Guys make sure your 4g provider allow port forwarding. Otherwise lafter you test everything on your pc with dynamic dns.
When you start testing on your laptop with 4g dongles on both drone and laptop you will find out it doesnt work. Because your gstreamer, ser2net or mavproxy will not be able to reach the server (laptop ) which has 4g internet. at least tmobile all 4g is not working

Hi guys.
I've got the whole setup working when I connect over 4g to my home network. When I use a dongle for my GCS though, I get no connection. My guess is that my 4g provider does not allow port forwarding.

The million dollar question is now,

How do I find out if this is the case?
And if so, how do I know which provider I should use?

I live in Hong Kong and I currently use China Mobile Hong Kong.

Open a web browser and enter http://m.home in the address bar.
Enter the password shown below in the Admin login field and click ok. Username: admin Password: admin' http://consumer.huawei.com/au/mobile-broadband/wingles/support/manuals/detail/e8278-au.htm?id=19342

You should be able to configure the security / Firewall settings from that menu.

I had the same problem and kind worked it around by vpn. Are you saying the usb Huawei 4G dongle itself has firewall or port mapping?
If it is the case I will give it a try.

Interface is only for configuration of WIFI hotspot.
You can log on to http://m.home and configure your clients.

When i plug my E3276 dongle into my computer, i get public ip right way with internet.public as APN name.

To test if a port is open, do as follows;

Download TCP listen program. https://www.allscoop.com/tcp-listen.php
Set whatever port you like and press Listen.

Go to canyouseeme.org and type in the port number you used in TCP listen.

If you get access to the port, you will have success status.

I will give it a try tonight to see that apn name works on T mobile. Home VPN server works with lover frame rate and lower bitrate. The latency is about a second. I believe the reason is all the cable internet providers has lower speed on upload stream.

Every operator has different APN name, so I don’t think "internet.public" will work for you.
Latency of a second is way to much..
How did you configure your VPN link? Are you running a VPN server at home, and connect GCS and Drone to that server? Or direct link between aircraft and GCS?

Yes you are right. based on my research there is no way to fix this with T mobile.
Fro VPN there is two way to do it.

VPN server : which is easy you go to your router setting activate the vpn server, choose the protocol, create user name password for the client(s), set the local ip that vpn server will asign to vpn clients and then you need to remap port forwarding to this vpn client ip.
The ports that you use for telemetry and video.Dont Forget the select proper protocol for port mapping I choose both udp and tcp. Next you need to establish a vpn connection at GCS.First connect to internet with your 4G. Then setup your vpn connection to your home vpn server. You still can use dynamic dns instead of IP for vpn server address.
If your router doesn't have vpn server feature you can use your home pc as vpn server. http://www.howtogeek.com/135996/how-to-create-a-vpn-server-on-your-windows-computer-without-installing-any-software/

But dont forget to map the vpn port your PC which is going to be vpn server. And don't forget to turn it on when you are going to the field.
As long as you connect to vpn the GCS will take your home ip address and if the ports mapped properly to the vpn client ip in router, the rest of the steps are exactly as you described at your tutorial. I had better results with lower video bitrate (200000) and lower frame rate. I think because upstream speed is too lower then down stream in home cable internet thats why the latency is unpredictable.

I would like to see your results with vpn. Please let me know if I can help. On the paper the latency shouldn't be that much. If you have a better upload speed with your home internet then your test will help me to see if this is my problem.

I will try this tonight. Can you tell me what firmware you are running on your E3276 ?
My E3276 will assign me an internal IP address, that's different from my external address. I believe that has to do with it being HiLink.
I also have a second E8278, same as on my UAV. I can access the firewall settings as well as port forwarding (virtual server) but so far I couldn't get it to work. I will try with the E3276 tonight.

Hi Brent,
My default install on my RPi (according to Emlid’s instructions) came with DASH as the /bin/sh default shell.
Therefore all of your sh scripts fail to run, mainly because their functions are configured for BASH shell.

Should I change my RPi’s default shell to BASH (from DASH) or should I try and restructure your scripts for DASH compatibility?
What would you suggest? Any thoughts on this?

I never had any issues running those Bash script in RTK image provided by Emlid. I never tought about their using Dash shell.
